Carved temple stone

Across the street from the stepwell, we visited the Harshat Mata Temple. Historians believe that it was built in the 9th century, just after the stepwell, but it was ruined and then rebuilt and modified in later centuries.

This is one of many ornate carvings on the walls of the temple. On the ground surrounding the building are similar blocks from the previous ruined structure.
