Harvest of smiles
On the roads we passed harvesting machines occasionally, but most of the fields were harvested by hand.
Next to our hotel, this woman was our closest neighbor.
With a short blade, she was cutting the stalks down and making bundles.
We often saw threshing machines in bare fields, surrounded by piles of bundled wheat.
So after she finished, I expect the machine would arrive to separate the grains.
In fields where that had been completed, we saw small flocks of parakeets eating seeds left on the ground.
